Food Fugitive

Natesy won’t eat.  Honestly.  He weighs 20 pounds and he’s still on an almost pure liquid diet.

We started with the requisite rice cereal.  Glue.
Pears?  Yawn.
Bananas?  Uh, uh.
Mangoes?  No go.
Sweet potatoes!  Yucky.

We’re on week 2 of butternut squash.  They’ve had some luck getting a few bites into his mouth every day at school.  Personally, I’ve almost given up.  He clamps his perfect little lips shut and turns his head.  “What’s that behind me?” is a favorite stall tactic.

Then he turns his head again without making eye contact with the spoon.  “What spoon?”

I try to trick him but he’s very smart.  Quite evasive.  “Wow, the ceiling is soOo interesting.”

Lately he takes his baby sledgehammer fist and smacks the spoon of squash clear out of my hand.  He totally knows how to do this and make it look like an accident…

“Ooops,”  He bats his long blond eyelashes.  “Did I do that?  I can’t control these arms.  They’re crazy.”

I’m not so sure…
